Dune: The Sisterhood series on HBO Max casts Shirley Henderson as Mother Ramallo

Dune fans have reason to celebrate as the highly anticipated HBO Max series, Dune: The Sisterhood, has found its Mother Ramallo in the form of Shirley Henderson. The announcement was made on Monday by the show’s official Twitter account.

Henderson is known for her roles in popular movies and TV shows such as the Harry Potter series, Bridget Jones’s Diary, and Trainspotting. She has also starred in the critically acclaimed HBO series, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Her performance as Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter franchise has become one of her most iconic roles.

In Dune: The Sisterhood, Henderson will play the role of Mother Ramallo, a powerful reverend mother who is part of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood, a secretive and powerful order of women with extraordinary abilities. The series is set in the same universe as Frank Herbert’s iconic Dune novels and will explore the politics, religion, and power struggles of the mysterious sisterhood.

The series is being produced by Legendary Television, the same company behind the 2021 Dune film, which was directed by Denis Villeneuve. The series will be helmed by showrunner Diane Ademu-John, who has worked on popular TV shows such as The Haunting of Bly Manor and Empire.

Fans of the Dune franchise have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Sisterhood series, which was first announced in 2019. While the pandemic caused production delays, the series is currently in pre-production and is expected to begin filming later this year. No release date has been announced yet, but fans can expect more casting announcements as production progresses.
